    About Shay Vlasicek, Intern

Since I was little, I found myself gravitating towards people who felt alone in their pain, desiring to give them the hope that they are not alone and that things can change. While living in Asia for many years, I was surrounded by unthinkable trauma that deeply grieved my heart. The common theme was a broken relationship with their family and a lack of attachment with their parents. It sparked a strong passion to equip and strengthen families to experience healing and connection that rewrites their story for generations to come.
I returned to the U.S. to pursue a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Denver Seminary so that I could develop the necessary tools to work with families and individuals who find themselves struggling to experience healing. I take great delight in getting to walk with clients through all the mess that life brings, while also recognizing the gravity of sharing their story and life with me. My goal is to provide a safe space for my clients where they are able to explore areas of life that feel broken and scattered, and experience refreshing healing and wholeness.
Outside of the therapeutic space, you can find me enjoying time with my husband and 18-month-old son or spending time with our friends and church community. I enjoy doing anything and everything outside, hiking, riding motorcycles, journaling, being creative, and dance parties in the living room are a must. I’m a big goofball at heart who enjoys lots of laughter, while also being attuned to the deeper pains that we tend to hide behind our smiles.
